MY PHILOSOPHY

ON CHARACTERS

My intention during the documentary process is to create a space for revealing deeper truths about the Heroes and their surrounding world.

This process is meant to be a source of their personal insights to see themselves from a different perspective.

My method of work is based on leaving more in the given world than taking away.

I follow the rhythm and sensitivity of the Heroes, skipping the “investigative” mode.

While being with the Heroes, I participate in the joys and concerns they allow me to share.

My method is to earn it.

The only laws and truths are those established by the Hero.

I work in complete synchrony with the Heroes. It’s a lengthy process that holds value for both sides.

The entire process of working with the Protagonist leads to an encounter with the viewer – through the cinema screen.
At this unique point of contact, what matters most to me is embracing the paradoxes of our lives without needing to resolve them.
So that each of us – both the Protagonist and the viewer – can simply be who we are.
Because who we are, in the end, remains a mystery.
